East Ren welcomes Tomb Raiders
People will flock from around Scotland to the fest which is being held for people of all ages — and giving them an opportunity to involve themselves, hands on, with a real excavation.
The fun, free family event is being organised by East Renfrewshire Council in conjunction with Archaeology Scotland and is set to take place on Saturday, September 5.

Hide AdConvener for the environment, councillor Vincent Waters, said: “This is certainly shaping up to be a grand day out!
“We’re delighted to welcome the festival to Rouken Glen Park. It’s a brilliant line-up of events to help people explore the site’s ancient and more recent past through the free excavations, tours and displays.
“And the dig at the old Mansion House offers a rare chance to be an archaeologist for the day on a real, live excavation.
“Come along and join in and find out about the park’s rich history — and have some fun.”

There will be tours of the park which will highlight it’s history from the late mediaeval period to the mostrecent country estates and industrial past.
There will be mini digs and activities for young folk and Victorian games for the kids.
And, if you’re lucky to find something, expert valuers will be there to help.
