Well aim for home comfort

MOTHERWELL will look to bounce back from their opening-day defeat at Tynecastle when they take on Aberdeen at Fir Park on Saturday in their first home SPL game of the season.
Mark McGhee's men turned in a decent display in the 3-2 defeat by Hearts but defensive lapses saw them return from the capital empty-handed.
The Well boss admitted to having mixed emotions after the match in that while he was angry at the way Well conceded the first two goals in particular, he was reasonably happy with their overall display.
He said: "I was totally satisfied with most aspects of our performance. We lost two poor goals from our point of view during the first half which gave them a lead that they perhaps didn't deserve. I thought the goals were slightly against the balance of play and that made it difficult for us.
"I am absolutely worried about the way they got their goals. It's what we will be working on. We can't afford to play as well as that, particularly going forward, and not take something from the game so we must address the reasons why."
McGhee strengthened his squad last week by signing Celtic winger Jim O'Brien on a two-year deal and Blackburn keeper Gunnar Nielsen on a six-month loan and is optimistic about Well's prospects in the months ahead.
He said: "We are going to have a good campaign, there is no doubt about that.
"Whether we are going to finish third remains to be seen but everyone knows the size of our squad and add a European campaign to the mix, then it makes it difficult.
"But I don't think our philosophy will be too different. We will continue to try and play good football, score goals and we'll win more games than we will lose with that attitude and mentality."
Striker David Clarkson, who scored both Well goals at Tynecastle, also thinks Well can bounce back against an Aberdeen side, also out to make amends for an opening-day reverse, at home to Inverness Caley Thistle.
Clarkson said: "Obviously, as a striker, it is good to get on the score sheet, particularly in the first game of the season, but we've ended up being beaten which is very disappointing.
"Despite the result, I think there are most definitely positives to be taken from the game and we will do that.
"The gaffer was reasonably happy with the way we played and we'll use that going into the Aberdeen game. We will once again work hard in training to try and eradicate the errors but use the positives as the catalyst for the game on Saturday."
